The
year goes down and never will return unless we beat on drums and kindle
fires-- candles and evergreen -- unless we learn to scare away our darkening desires. We could succomb still, welcoming the night, laugh in the chill, singing as we hold, embrace in the darkness, drink to the end of light, then plunge into the chasm of the cold. But we evade the darkness once more, whin we clamber to the surface of our days, There to be suspended once again like ash upon the tension of those rays: Thin sunshine. So we beat the solstice drums. Scatter darkness. This way daybreak comes. |
